President Kagame also the current Chairperson of the African Union has arrived in Vienna, Austria where he will co-chair the High Level Forum Africa-Europe alongside Austria’s Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, who currently holds the rotating presidency of the Council of the EU.

During two days, 18-19 December, the High Level Forum will provide a space for European and African leaders as well as CEOs of major global companies to reflect and act on what needs to be done to secure prosperity and competitiveness on both continents.

With Business to Business and Business to Government meetings, the Forum will serve as an opportunity to highlight the untapped potential for deepening partnership in technology exchange and trade, and their role in ensuring economic growth and fulfilling the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Forum also aims to contribute to the ongoing implementation of the joint declaration of the 2017 Abidjan Summit on “Investing in Youth for Accelerated Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development”.

This evening, President Kagame and other Heads of State and government will be welcomed with a dinner hosted by Chancellor Kurz. Tomorrow morning, President Kagame will deliver opening remarks at the opening of the High Level Forum alongside Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, AUC Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat and President of the European Council Jean- Claude Juncker. President Kagame will also participate in the political leaders meeting taking place later in the morning.

President Kagame, Chancellor Kurz, AUC Chairperson Mahamat, EU President Juncker and European Parliament President Tajani will conclude the day with a joint press conference with members of the media.

Kagame co-préside demain le Forum de haut niveau Afrique-Europe sur la Coopération à l’ère de la Numérisation

Le Président Kagame est arrivé à Vienne en Autriche où il co-présidera demain avec son homologue autrichien le Forum de haut niveau Afrique-Europe sur la Coopération à l’ère de la Digitalisation et de la Numérisation, a établi ARI.

L’innovation et la numérisation sont des facteurs clés du développement pour le futur de l’Afrique. Raison pour laquelle d’autres dirigeants comme le Président du Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, le Président du Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo et la Présidente de l’Éthiopie, Sahle-Work Zwede, participent à cette importante rencontre.

En tant que Président en exercice de l’UA, Kagame aura à ses côtés le Chancelier autrichien Kurtz qui est Président en exercice de l’UE, le Président du Parlement Européen, Antonio Tajani, et le Président de la Commission de l’UA, Moussa Faki Mahamat.

«L’Europe et l’Afrique sont confrontés à des défis communs, tels que le chômage, le changement climatique, le terrorisme et l’immigration. Nous ne pouvons nous attaquer à ce dernier problème qu’en travaillant ensemble et en saisissant des opportunités communes. Je crois fermement que l’Afrique devrait être une priorité dans notre agenda. C’est pourquoi le Parlement européen se fait le défenseur d’un véritable plan Marshall dans le prochain budget de l’UE, afin d’attirer les investissements, de développer les infrastructures et une base industrielle sur le continent, tout en créant de l’espoir et des perspectives pour les futures générations», a indiqué le Président du Parlement Européen, Antonio Tajani.
