Tanzania cancels national exam over Covid-19 pandemic
Tanzanian education authorities on Thursday announced the cancellation of the national Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination which was scheduled for May 2020 over the Covid-19 pandemic.
Leonard Akwilapo, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Vocational Training, said the national examination for Form Six students which were scheduled to start on May 4, 2020, have been cancelled indefinitely.
Akwilapo added that the National Examinations Council of Tanzania has also written letters to all regional and district administrative secretaries and to all public and private schools, notifying them on cancellation of all upcoming exams in the country.
The official urged students to keep on learning at home for their own good as the government strived to contain the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Tanzania had reported 284 confirmed cases of Covid-19 with 10 deaths as of Thursday
